Welcome To
Doris's Breast Cancer Scrapbook
Tuesday July 26, 2007...it was one of those days that just about knock the life right out of you.
My beloved grandmother, Doris, who has been healthy all of her life was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 85. Right away, I told her that God is bigger than that tiny lump of cancer. And if she wanted to survive this, she would have to stay positive and in good spirits. She did just that. She had her first surgery and her doctor had hoped he had got it all. A few weeks went by and we all waited anxiously for the results of her biopsy. Well, it was not the news we hoped for. The biopsy showed young cancer cells, and it was the type of cancer that grows fierce and fast. So they decided on a mastectomy, which she had August 9, 2007.
With her family and friends by her side, she was wheeled into surgery by her grandson, Jake an hour later than the original time. This was due to concern she had a cough, but after a chest x-ray…it was time to get that cancer out of her body.
She came through surgery with flying colors! The only problem was her oxygen level was low. Come to find out it was due to her artificial finger nails, and once they figured that out, they put the oxygen monitor on her ear and her levels were great! She got to come home Sunday August 12.
On behalf of my family, I want to thank you all for your prayers, notes, and e-mails asking about my grandmother. We are very blessed to have you all on our side! She has a long way to go with recovery and waiting for the biopsy of the removed breast, so please, continue to pray!
